London Fashion Week AW13: FAD competition, future optimism

This was the last show I went to during my week at LFW, and here are some of my favourite outfits I saw created by the undergraduate designers  With the winner being Stephanie Kitchen from Bath Spa university, as shown in the last picture below. The designs were meant to illustrate future optimism, creating a look for the future, conveying what the young talents of university have in store for the world of fashion.

LFW AW13. Models.

Here are some of my favourite models from London Fashion Week AW13, taken before/after the catwalk shows.
Each of them had that wow factor about them, my favourite being the blonde girl in the second image, her hair was so striking and immediately evoking a lot of attention, including that of myself.

Central Saint Martin's show. LFW AW13

Central Saint Martin's MA fashion show.
Here are some of the images of my favourite outfits from the CSM show, despite being at the back in the corner, this show was one of the most surprising. I was captivated by the creativity and originality that has been created by these designers, my favourite being the menswear collection. Definitely a refreshing factor to LFW.

London Fashion Week. AW13. 15/2/13 Street Style.

Here are a few examples of some street style that was around at Somerset house during the first day of Fashion Week. This includes Kate Nash, Made in Chelsea cast members and also Charli xcx.
I found many of my favourite outfits tended to fit into the monochrome categories and appeared to be a running theme throughout the street style in many ways. From the edginess of Charli xcx to the smart look executed with beautiful grace by Victoria from Made in Chelsea. Tartan was also big within the streets of Somerset house today from Jackets to scarves to skirts, it was everywhere and it was something that definitely captured my eye, it completed what could have otherwise been bland outfits.

eyes are the window to the soul.

Model: Ella Tebbutt
Assistant: Jack Codling
Here is another result from last weeks test shoot, here I was primarily focussing on her face and creating a portrait shot, with an inkling of the atire she's wearing, giving the inference that she's out on a cold winters day.

out with the old, in with the new.

Model: Ella Tebbutt
Assistant: Jack Codling
Here are some of the results from fridays shoot, I wanted to juxtaposition the urban area with her smart atire. Hair and makeup was basic with a slight 60's element to it due to having a slight quiff behind the fringe. We also tried to almost create opposite illusions with both these images, one where behind her was dark and dingy, and the other using the effect of back lighting to appear bright and essentially have the opposite effect. Thank you to everyone who helped!

Opposites attract.

Models: Ella Tebbutt, Elliot Baker
Assistant: Jack Codling.
Here is a shot taken from my shoot the other day. Within the concept I wanted to illustrate the juxtaposition between styles and also gender, reiterating the fact that although they can be closely entwined they can also be very different. I had my female model dressed simple, yet smart. And my male model represents the exact opposite with a large oversized basketball top. Here I created a studio like shot, giving the illusion of the 'odd couple' and how essentially 'opposites attract.'

Today's purchases.

Today I went shopping to pick up some last bits and bobs to accessorise for London Fashion Week next week. Being a student, the budget was minimal and I managed to spend under £25 pounds on my purchases. All the jewellery was taken from new look, this included, a set of 3 rings, a necklace, a set of earrings and an ear cuff. I also purchased gloves and sunglasses for extra assesories. I then found material for a collar in a local charity shop which will then be sewn onto a plain black dress from topshop. I then finished my shop with purchasing the March issue of Vogue, with Cara Delevingne as the front cover, photographed by Mario Testino; who is one of my favourite contemporary photographers. The issue itself has given me a lot of inspiration.

Back beat the word was on the street that the fire in your heart is out.

The Denim Jacket:
The denim jacket shown within the image is self customised, made simply by using bleach on half the jacket and finishing it off with attaching studs to the shoulder area of the jacket. Ive teamed it with a t-shirt dress from topshop, grey tights from ASOS, and finished off with topshop necklaces and dc martins.

A suit that fits.

Model: Kym Ellison
Assistants: Ella Tebbutt, Harry Bartlett, Scott Mason
These are my final results for my 'a suit that fits' editorial, suits were taken from asos and topshop.

Film Photography 35mm

Model: Victoria Aubery
Photographer: Danielle Wren
I fall in love with film photography whenever I shoot, the creation of it is just beautiful, especially the grain. Here I was working on the concept of culture and however modern the world is becoming the beauty of culture will still remain however much or little this impact has on society. I looked at the ideology of the Japanese culture and wanted to illustrate small elements of the Geisha culture, without creating a full geisha girl.

Here are some studio experimentation shots, with the lovely Jade Willis, here I just wanted to experiment with the different ways the studio can be used in conjunction with the model to evoke different emotions.
